The Shepherd and the Sea

ne-shepard

We’re finally having a wet winter here in California. It was on a recent stormy day that this painting for, “The Shepherd and the Sea” was made.

There was a young shepherd tending his flock of sheep along the seashore. He began to daydream “I wish my life was more exciting and profitable.” As the days, then weeks went by this thought began to worry him. He finally decided to sell his sheep and to buy a boat. He then invested in a cargo of figs to sail across the sea to sell them. As he set off on his adventure he was content with his life. Soon into the voyage he nodded off and had a dream…
