A Halloween tale

e-taderz-w-skullz

Watercolors on cotton paper

In the courtyard a flock of the dead swirled overhead. The skull, smiling like some gossamer mask paused above Jake and spoke in a whisper, “Upon the threshold of the wide open gate of dreams” its voice was faint, more like an echo from the past. Jake had heard that passage before, “I wonder what connection the smiling skull might have with our dear departed author”…

from the short story, “As the cyclops reached down”
