Opera, backstage

L'Exposition ERJules Cheret’s  Grand théâtre de l’exposition. Palais des enfants …

At work on a “scrim” tacked to the deck of the San Diego Opera Scenic Studio’s paintshop on Commercial Ave. In the late 80’s and early 90’s I was lucky to have worked with Master artist Davis West in the SDO studio. His guidance and inspiration served so many of us artists in our careers. This photo is from the John Conklin production of Puccini’s “La Boheme”

This season’s production of Puccini’s “Tosca” last weekend was fantastic, the San Diego Symphony played brilliantly. The principle singers along with the chorus were outstanding. The beautiful scenery was created by pretty much the same artisans that have been with the SD Opera all these years.
